College Park, Md. – The reigning Big Ten Defender of the Year and IWLCA First Team All-American, graduate student Abby Bosco, announced her return to the Maryland women's lacrosse program for the 2023 season on Monday.
 
"I am so excited to return to Maryland for another year," said Bosco. "The decision I made to come to Maryland for my grad year last season was one of the best decisions I've made in my life and I feel so fortunate to be given the opportunity to play for the Terps for a second season."

Bosco was a captain on the 2022 team that finished 19-2, won the Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Championships and advanced to the Final Four. 

The Suffern, NY native led a Maryland defense that allowed only 7.81 goals per game, the second lowest mark in the country. Bosco's 63 groundballs were the most in the history of Big Ten lacrosse and the most by a Terp since 2004. The Big Ten Defender of the Year defended the opponents best player, helping hold 17 of 21 opponents to under 10 goals. Bosco also led the team with 26 caused turnovers and stood second with 89 draw controls. The consensus First Team All-American was also a Tewaaraton nominee, named First Team All-Big Ten and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on March 8.
 
Bosco will return to a Maryland defense that also added the 2022 Ivy League Defender of the Year Marge Donovan, returns 2022 IWLCA National Goaltender of the Year Emily Sterling and starters Brianna Lamoureux and Maddie Sanchez and gets 2021 America East Defender of the Year Clancy Rheude and the top class of 2021 freshman defender Kennedy Major back from injury.
