US Lacrosse, Inc. d/b/a USA Lacrosse (“USAL,” “we”, “us” or “our”) owns and operates this website (this “Site”). USAL is concerned about your privacy and the confidentiality of information you share with us. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes how we collect, use, share, store, and protect your information.
SCOPE OF THIS PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy applies to activities of USAL and to persons who visit the Site, sign up for USAL publications and mailings, or otherwise transact with USAL, and covers our collection, use, storage and sharing of personal and non-personal information.
“Personal information” is any information that can be used to identify you personally, either alone or in combination with other information available to us.
“Non-personal information” includes information that is collected passively or automatically from you, such as information collected from your browser or device through the use of cookies and other similar technologies.
We consider Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and other similar identifiers to be non-personal information unless we are required to treat such information as personal information under applicable law. If non-personal information is combined with personal information, we treat the combined information as personal information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.
This website contains links to other sites. Please be aware that USAL is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage our users to take appropriate precautions when leaving our Sites and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This Policy applies solely to information collected by USAL Sites.
This Policy is part of the Terms of Use that govern your use of USAL Sites. A link to our Terms of Use is provided at the bottom of each page of USAL Sites.
YOUR CONSENT
By accessing or using this Site and/or providing any personal information to us, you accept and consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not accept these practices, you must not access or use the Site or provide us with your personal information.
PERSONAL INDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION COLLECTED
USAL collects information from our users at several different points throughout our Sites and from other sources. This section describes these points of collection.
Membership Registration
To become a member of USAL, an applicant must first complete a membership registration form. During registration, an applicant is required to give contact information such as name, address, phone number, and e-mail address. This information is used to create a membership card and to contact the member about topics in which he/she has expressed an interest. All information is required unless otherwise stated on the membership form. This Policy governs both members who apply online or otherwise.
Event/Meet Registration
To register for an event through a USAL website, an entrant is required to give contact information, such as name, address, phone number, and e-mail address, as well as information about his/her event(s)--which may include age, sex, qualifying mark(s), and similar information. USAL sends such information about entrants to meet management personnel so they can properly and accurately prepare entry lists and conduct the event.
Newsletters
If a user subscribes to our newsletter(s), we ask for contact information such as name and e-mail address. These e-mail addresses and names are never shared outside our organization, except as described in this Policy.
Merchandise Order
We request information from customers on our merchandise order forms. A customer must provide contact information (such as name and shipping address) so that we can fill customers' orders and direct the customer to our payment processor. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with the customer. Customers' names and addresses may be shared with third parties as necessary to process, fulfill, or ship orders.
Contests, Sweepstakes, and Surveys
From time to time, we may conduct contests and sweepstakes, and in such cases, we post official rules related to such contests and sweepstakes separate from this Policy. We also conduct surveys from time to time. Participation in these activities is completely voluntary, and thus the user has a choice about whether to participate and to disclose the information requested.
INFORMATION ABOUT THIRD-PARTY COOKIES AND INTEREST-BASED ADVERTISING
In addition to the cookies USAL delivers to your computer or mobile or tablet device through our Site, certain third parties may deliver cookies to you for a variety of reasons. For example, we use Google Analytics, a web analytics tool that helps us understand how visitors engage with our Site. To learn more about Google Analytics, click here.
Other third parties may deliver cookies to your computer or mobile or tablet device for the purpose of tracking your online behaviors across nonaffiliated websites and delivering targeted advertisements either on our Site or on other websites.
You have choices about the collection of information by third parties on our Site. For example, if you don’t want information about your visit to our Site sent to Google Analytics, you may download an Opt-out Browser Add-on by clicking here. Please note that the Add-on does not prevent information from being sent to USAL.
In addition, if you would like to opt-out of having interest-based information collected by certain entities during your visits to our Site or other websites, please click here. You will be directed to an industry-developed website that contains mechanisms for choosing whether each listed entity may collect and use data for online behavioral advertising purposes. It may be that some of the third parties that collect interest-based information on our Site do not participate in the industry-developed opt-out website, in which case the best way to avoid third-party tracking of your online behaviors may be through your browser settings and deletion of cookies.
Other Collection Points
We may also collect information from people through other means such as on the telephone, by e-mail, by fax, on paper, and in person. This Policy governs the use and disclosure of that information as well. Sharing excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

TECHNOLOGY WE USE TO COLLECT INFORMATION
In addition to information that you manually provided to us by using, for example, your keyboard, mouse, or touchpad, this Site uses cookies and other similar technologies to collect information for the purposes explained below.
Cookies
Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information that are placed on your device’s browser and used to recognize your browser in the future and to track your interaction with the Site. Cookies are stored on your device or in local storage. Cookies are useful. They make using the internet easier by, among other things, saving your passwords and preferences for you. Some cookies (“session” cookies) expire and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Others (“persistent” cookies) do not expire and are not automatically deleted.
You can enable your browser to refuse cookies. If you do, certain features of the Site may not work as intended or may be slowed. For information on configuring your browser to decline cookies, check your browser’s “help” feature.
We may use cookies to deliver content specific to your interests, to track and analyze Site usage and browsing activity, to make your visit to the Site easier by recognizing you when you return, and for other purposes set forth in any agreement between you and USAL. We may also use web beacons, clear gif technology, action tags, or other technologies to track how users navigate to and through the Site. We may also use this technology to track the delivery of HTML e-mail messages.
Web beacons cannot be declined when delivered using a regular web page, but they can be refused when delivered by e-mail. If you do not wish to receive web beacons by e-mail, you will need to disable HTML images or select text only for e-mails received with your e-mail software.
Do-Not-Track Signals
Some web browsers may transmit “do–not-track” signals to the Site. There is no standard that governs what, if anything, websites should do when they receive these signals. We therefore do not currently take action in response to these signals. We may update this Privacy Policy if and when a standard for responding to these signals is established.
Other Methods
We may also track activity on our Site using log files stored on our servers, and collect information, including IP addresses, browser types and versions, geographic information, pages viewed, and devices used to interact with the Site. We may use this information to personalize your experience and to administer our Site.
We may use a web analytics service, such as Google Analytics, to record and analyze your activity on this Site. The Site or any such service may track your browsing across web sites that use the same service and may collect information about you such as the type of computer or operating system you are using, your location (e.g., city, state, country), and gender.
This Site may interact with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, and LinkedIn. The Site may include social media features such as the Facebook “like” button, widgets, or interactive mini programs that run on our Site. These features, and the third parties who offer them, may collect your IP address, browsing information, and may set cookies to enable the feature to function properly. In addition to this Privacy Policy, your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the party providing the feature.
You may be able to register with or log on to the Site by choosing to automatically populate the requested data fields with information you previously provided to a third-party (such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google). By doing this, you are asking the third-party platform to send us information, including personal information, from your profile on that platform. We treat that information as we do any other information you give to us when you register, log on, or enhance your profile.
HOW WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, we do not knowingly sell, share, or rent your information to any third parties without your permission. We may share your information, including your personal information, with our employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations, such as Chapters, for the purpose of carrying out general USAL business operations. For example, we use third party services to assist us in securely processing your credit card transactions and may share information with third-party service providers for the purpose of verifying USAL membership. We may also share personal information and non-personal information with third parties that help manage and maintain this Site and databases and who assist us with event registration, direct mailing, e-mail communications, and other business operations.
We strive to ensure that any parties with which we share your information will provide at least the same level of protection as this Privacy Policy offers. We are not, however, responsible for the privacy practices of third parties and do not guarantee that they have similar privacy practices.
We will share information with courts, law enforcement and other governmental agencies, and with third parties when required by law to do so, or when we in good faith believe it is necessary in order to comply with legal obligations. In the event that this Site, or all or substantially all of our assets are acquired, merged, or reorganized, user information may be transferred to another party.
USAL shares with its sponsors and third-party services providers the names, e-mail addresses, and mailing addresses of members for their own marketing purposes and for the purpose of providing exclusive promotional offers to USL members. You may request that USAL not provide your information to third parties for their marketing purposes by sending a written request to the mailing address below or to membership@usalacrosse.com.
PRIVACY POLICIES OF LINKED SITES AND THIRD PARTIES
The Site uses third parties to process credit card transactions, and the Site also contains links to other sites. This Privacy Policy only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. Although you may link to other sites or third parties via the Site, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties or the content of linked sites. For certain athletes, we also may share information from your profile and other sources with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC), the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and the World Lacrosse (WL) for administrative purposes. These organizations' respective privacy policies govern the use of your information for their purposes.
USAL occasionally enters into partnerships with other organizations to provide valuable services to the lacrosse community. When USAL provides the services or collects information from such services, this Policy will govern the use of such information for the partnership.
When someone signs up for an event, we pass on the necessary information (name, address, age) to the race or meet management personnel. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of entering the person in the event. However, this information may be used to create programs, score sheets, and results for the meet which may include the entrants' name, home city and state, age, etc. USAL has advised meet management personnel that if they plan to use this information for purposes other than entering a person in the event, they must notify USAL.
We use an outside shipping company to ship orders, an outside printing company to print certain publications, and a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. These companies are directed not to retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purpose.
We occasionally share aggregated demographic information with our corporate sponsors, suppliers, partners, and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
We occasionally provide postal mailing lists to magazines which we think might be of interest to our members. From time to time, we also provide postal or e-mail lists to USAL corporate sponsors, suppliers, or other partners for the specific purpose of offering discounts or perquisites which we think might be of interest to our members. These companies or organizations are directed not to use these mailing lists for any other purposes or to disclose them to any third party.
We may contemplate, for strategic or other reasons, selling, buying, merging, or otherwise reorganizing one or more of our businesses. In negotiating with a third party about entering into such an arrangement, we may need to disclose your Personal Information. In such cases, we will take reasonable measures to protect the Personal Information we disclose, for example, by requiring a prospective purchaser to sign a non-disclosure agreement limiting the use and protecting the confidentiality of the Personal Information. We may transfer the Personal Information you submit on or through our Site to any organization that acquires or merges with us.
We may provide functionality on our Site that allows you to automatically post information to a third-party social media platform (such as Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest). If you choose to take advantage of this functionality, people with access to your profile on the third-party platform will be able to see your post. Thus, you should have no expectation of privacy in those actions. Further, if you choose to link your profile on our Site with an account on a third-party social media platform, we may share the information in your profile with that third-party platform. We may also use third-party social media platforms to offer you interest-based ads. To offer such ads, we may convert your email address into a unique value which can be matched by our partner company with a user on their platform. Although we do not provide any personal information to these platform vendors, they may gain insights about individuals who respond to the ads we serve.
If you provide information that is published or displayed on the USAL Blog or other public areas of the Site or is transmitted to other users of the Site or third parties (collectively, “User Contributions”), you are solely responsible for your User Contributions and their attendant consequences, and you provide User Contributions and transmit them to others at your own risk. We cannot control the actions of other users of the Site with whom you may choose to share your User Contributions. We therefore cannot and do not guarantee that your User Contributions will not be viewed by unauthorized persons. Nor do we make any warranties with regards to the information transmitted through User Contributions.
We will also share information to prevent fraud, to respond to a legal process, or as otherwise required by law.
Other Kinds of Disclosures Of Personal Information
USAL Officers, employees, Association Officers, as well as USAL Committee members, Sub-Committee members, USOPC and WL Representatives, and USAL Board members, may have their name, address, fax number, phone number, and e-mail (work and/or home for each) listed both on the website and in print for contact purposes. Any person who accepts an official position with USAL agrees to have his/her contact information made available to USAL's members and the public, unless requested otherwise.
Elite athletes and Hall of Famers may have their biographies posted on the USAL website or otherwise published by USAL. These people agree to have certain information about themselves communicated to the public, including, but not limited to, name, home city and state, age, educational background, and similar information.
Information From Your Mobile Or Tablet Device
If you download one of our mobile or tablet applications or access one of our Sites through your mobile or tablet device, we may automatically collect certain information from or about your mobile or tablet device. The types of information we may collect include the type of device you use, your device’s unique ID, the IP address of your device, your device’s operating system, the type of mobile or tablet Internet browsers you use, and information about the way you use our mobile or tablet application.
SECURITY OF INFORMATION
We have in place reasonable procedures designed to help prevent unauthorized access and to maintain information and data security. Although we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee the security of information provided over the internet or that we store, and we will not be responsible for breaches of security beyond our reasonable control.
HOW YOU CAN ACCESS AND CORRECT YOUR INFORMATION
You may view, correct or update the personal information we have about you by sending a request to the e-mail or mailing address listed below. Individuals with a USAL account may correct or update the personal information within the USAL system by logging into their account. Others who may want to correct or update their personal information may do so by contacting us using the contact information below. If we use any of your personal information in a manner that you believe is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy, please contact us so that we may correct such inconsistency. To change your date of birth you must contact member services at membership@usalacrosse.com.
CHOICE, CORRECTIONS AND OPTING IN/OUT
We send all new members a welcoming e-mail to confirm their membership status. Once the registration is complete, members may be provided the option to update their membership profile to indicate what types of mailing and SMS communication they wish to receive (several mailing categories are set by default). Once USAL activates such options, established members will receive only communications that fall into the categories in which they have expressed interest. However, members will occasionally receive important communications from us regardless of their mailing preferences (for example to confirm a membership renewal, to confirm an event entry, or to request required membership information that is missing).
Member can opt in to receiving SMS communication during the account creation process or by logging into their account, navigating to 'Notification Preferences' and updating their selection regarding whether they would like to receive SMS communication about their membership status.
Text "HELP" to 21807 for help. You will receive instructions on how to contact the USA Lacrosse Member Services team, as well as how to unsubscribe. Text "STOP" to 21807 to cancel. You will receive a reply message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed from SMS and no longer receive messages from us.
Non-members may opt in or out of various mailings by following the instructions provided at the bottom of e-mail messages or as described on our Sites.
Because of the changing state of technology and indecision within the industry regarding the meaning of Do Not Track (DNT) signals, we currently do not make any guarantee that we will honor DNT signals.
NOTICES OF AMENDMENTS TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
From time to time, we may make changes to our information practices or alter the functionality of the Site. If we change this Privacy Policy, we will post a notice of those changes on our home page for at least seven days so our users are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. When we update this Privacy Policy, we will change the “last updated” Revised date below. We encourage you to periodically review this page and the Site’s home page for the latest information on our privacy practices for this Site.
