LOS ANGELES, CA. - Today, The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced that Ben Rubeor will become Head Coach of Atlas LC, effective immediately.
Considered by many as one of the brightest minds in the game, Rubeor has been relentless in his pursuit of a head coaching position at the professional level. Before his coaching career began, Rubeor had a standout career as a player at both the collegiate and professional level. While playing at the University of Virginia, Rubeor was named All-ACC three times (2006-2008), selected to the All-ACC Tournament Team three times (2006-2008), and picked as a finalist for the prestigious Tewaaraton Trophy twice (2007, 2008). Rubeor ranks fifth all-time on Virginia’s career goals list (136) and sixth all-time on the school’s career points list (212). Following his college career, Rubeor played professional lacrosse for seven years before retiring from competition in 2015. Rubeor currently serves as the Men’s Varsity Head Lacrosse Coach and Associate Director of Admissions at Thayer Academy (Braintree, MA). Prior to this role, Rubeor was the Assistant Coach/Offensive Coordinator for the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL).
“I am grateful for this opportunity to go to battle with and against the best players in the world. It’s not easy to become a team, and I’m looking forward to putting in the work that is required,” says Rubeor. “I’m also excited about the opportunity to inspire kids to dream about playing professional lacrosse one day. Thank you to the Premier Lacrosse League and the Atlas Lacrosse Club for giving me this opportunity.”
“Ben was the standout choice to lead this talented Atlas LC into the new season and shape its identity for the long run,” says Seth Tierney, Head of the PLL Lacrosse Advisory Board. “His relentless energy coupled with an infectious desire to improve his players will prove to be an invaluable asset to both the league and his team. We couldn’t be more delighted to welcome Ben to the PLL family.”
