In partnership with NCSA, the official responsible recruiting services provider of US Lacrosse, we are proud to highlight our Impact Athletes — boys’ and girls’ high school lacrosse players who are supporting their communities with special efforts.
We all recognize that these are unusual and unprecedented times, but great challenges also offer great opportunities, and US Lacrosse continues to receive and share some of these stories.
US Lacrosse has created an easy-to-use online submission form so you can share your stories and photos with us. US Lacrosse reviews all submissions and selects exemplary high school athletes to recognize. These are their stories.
This week, we highlight two students who have been active leaders in helping others.
BODEN BOUNDS, CHAPPAQUA, NY
The Horace Greeley High School student with D-I lacrosse aspirations used the sport as a means of meeting people when he was new in town. His new friends encouraged him to try lacrosse, and since he began playing, he said he’s been able to focus academically.
Bounds has had the opportunity to help with issues of racial inequality within his community. Recently appointed as a student representative to the New Castle Council on Race & Equity, Bounds’ mission is to help combat inequality by providing guidance to town administrators to help support BIPOC people.
He is also the co-founder and co-president of the Horace Greeley High School Bronx Lacrosse club, founded with the same friends who introduced him to the game. The Bronx Lacrosse Club was formed to help Bronx Lacrosse by creating an avenue for students to volunteer in the South Bronx, one of the poorest districts in America.
Members of the club help provide support through lacrosse, academic tutoring, fundraising and more.
KATIE SULLIVAN, NORFOLK, VA.
Sullivan, a rising senior at Norfolk Collegiate, has made a verbal commitment to play lacrosse at Wofford College. She is passionate about lacrosse and social justice and is considering pursuing a law degree.
Sullivan has used lacrosse to hone her leadership skills and has been a US Lacrosse ambassador in the Tidewater region, helping to grow the game among area youth.
She and a classmate have raised funds and awareness for Feed the Fight Norfolk, a local charity which is supporting local restaurants by paying them to make food for hospital workers and first responders. This benefits both restaurant owners who were forced to close during the pandemic and hospital workers who have worked long hours to help fight COVID-19.
After raising money, Sullivan and her classmate helped deliver the food to a local children’s hospital.
