Boston College entered the 2021 season at No. 17 in the Nike / USA Lacrosse Division I Women’s Top 20, in large part because of an inconsistent showing in 2020.
The Eagles certainly weren’t subpar, but their 4-3 mark during the pandemic-shortened season made it appear as if they were a far cry from the team that went to three straight national championship game from 2017-19. Charlotte North & Co. proved that very wrong.
North scored a Division I single-season record 102 goals to lead arguably the deepest offense in the nation, all while setting the world on fire on the draw. The defense, a unit overshadowed by such a dominant offense, was steady, backboned by Rachel Hall between the pipes.
North Carolina was the top team in the Top 20 for every single week of the 2021 season, but with the championship game in the rearview mirror, it’s Boston College that now reigns supreme.
