The Canadian Lacrosse Association announced Wednesday the 46 players — 23 men and 23 women — that will travel to Sparks, Md., this weekend to take on the U.S. national teams and reigning NCAA champions at US Lacrosse’s Fall Classic.

The men’s roster includes two players — attackman Jeff Teat and long-stick midfielder Graeme Hossack — who competed in the 2018 world championship. Teat, a senior at Cornell, is also one of 12 current collegians competing in the event.

“We are at the beginning stages of a new process for the men's team, building towards the [IWGA] World Games in 2021 and the [World Lacrosse] World Championship in 2022,” coach Randy Mearns said. “It's not a secret that our player pool is extremely deep and only gets deeper with each passing year. That's very exciting for Canada lacrosse. For this event, we put together a younger roster for the Fall Classic and as a staff, we are looking forward to working, interacting and competing with this group as we start our new evaluation process this weekend.”

The women’s roster, on the other hand, includes several recognizable veterans of international lacrosse, including attackers Selena Lasota and Danita Stroup, midfielders Erica Evans and Dana Dobbie and defender Lydia Sutton.

One name missing is Crysti Foote, who announced her retirement. She had been a member of the Canadian national team since 2005.

“We are excited to begin our selection process playing against the world champions and the NCAA champions,” coach Scott Teeter said. “Any time that we get to play high caliber teams, it is great for our development and evaluation of current senior national team players, plus recent NCAA graduates and current NCAA players.”

Canada’s men will play the U.S. on Friday (8 p.m. ET) and Virginia on Saturday (4:30 p.m. ET) . The women will play the U.S. on Friday (6 p.m. ET) and Maryland on Saturday (9 a.m. ET). All four games will be streamed live on Lax Sports Network.
