The United States' chief rival for international lacrosse supremacy announced its Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Womens' World Cup roster Thursday. And much like the Canadian U19 women's team that upset Team USA in 2015, most of the 18 players chosen to the Canadian senior women's team have been or will be trained in the NCAA ranks.

World Cup veterans Dana Dobbie (Maryland '08), Crysti Foote (Notre Dame '06) and Katie Guy (Penn State '13) are among the 18 players (listed below). But there's also some young blood in the mix, including national team rookies Bianca Chevarie and Claire Mills. Chevarie, who plays for the Six Nations (Ontario) club, is just 15, but she has already committed to play at Syracuse.

Among other notable names:

• Selena Lasota (Northwestern '18), currently the top player at Northwestern.

• Alie Jimerson (Syracuse '18), the former Haudenosaunee standout who recently transfered from Albany to Syracuse.

• Kaylin Morissette (Louisville '16), who with Dobbie will provide an imposing presence in the center circle for draws.

• Current college juniors Erica Evans (Canisius '18) and Lydia Sutton (USC '18), both of whom were All-World players (with Lasota) for Canada's gold medal-winning U19 team in 2015.

"This team is extremely dynamic and athletic, and will be ready to compete against the best in the world," said Syracuse coach Gary Gait, Canada's women's field program director and associate head coach, in a roster release issued by the Canadian Lacrosse Association.

Canada surged past Australia in the 2013 FIL Women's World Cup to advance to its first-ever senior women's final, losing to the U.S. 19-5.

"The tryouts were highly competitive and the final selection process was extremely difficult, but I am confident that we have chosen the best 18 players available," said head coach Scott Teeter, who holds the same position at Canisius. "These ladies give our senior women's team program the best chance to improve on our previous international results."

Six of the 18 players selected played for Canada's U19 team.

"Putting the right combination of players together for the U19 world championship in 2015 played a big part in Canada pulling off one of the biggest upsets in women’s lacrosse history," Team Canada chairman Dean French said.

The players on the final roster, along with two alternates selected from the training squad at the conclusion of the NCAA season, will take part in a final training camp this spring, after which a condensed roster for the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland will be announced.
