I hope this note finds you and your family in good health and hopeful spirit. During this international crisis, it has been truly inspiring to see the lacrosse community bond as never before.
The loss of the spring season has been a painful disruption for everyone — players, coaches, officials, parents and the staff here at US Lacrosse.
Given the indefinite suspension of play, our nonprofit organization has been focused on building a financial model that enables us to sustain our basic operations. We project our primary sources of revenue — membership, fundraising and sponsorship — will be reduced by up to $8 million for the year. To address this challenge, we have significantly reduced expenses across the board.
Despite these extraordinary circumstances, we remain determined to provide continued support and service to the national lacrosse community. We’ll continue to do our best to advance our strategic plan, keep you connected and informed through our media channels and evolve our programs and resources in preparation for the inevitable return of play. But these fundamental goals, and our very mission, are threatened without your support.
If you remain passionate about the sport and its future, I humbly ask you to renew your membership or consider a small gift today to help US Lacrosse weather the significant financial challenges we face now and in the months to come. You are the lifeblood of our organization, and this is the moment we need you most.
A gift from the Creator centuries ago, the roots of lacrosse run deep, as do the relationships our connection to the sport has enabled. If frustration or fear mount from time to time in the days to come, just grab your stick, and you’ll be reminded of the strength of that lasting connection.
With thanks and gratitude,
Steve Stenersen, President and CEO
Today is National Giving Day. If you're able to donate, please support US Lacrosse and help introduce the game to those who might otherwise never find it.
