When Boston College announced the addition of three women’s lacrosse transfers in July, coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein did not hold back her enthusiasm about former Duke star Charlotte North.
“We’ve been watching Charlotte in awe for years,” Walker-Weinstein said then. “She is the type of player we wish we could start coaching today.”
Wish granted.
Boston College, which at the time of the announcement told US Lacrosse Magazine that North would not be eligible for the 2020 season due to ACC rules governing intra-conference transfers, announced Monday that she has since been cleared to play immediately.
North, who has been playing with the Eagles during fall ball, provides instant offensive relief for a BC program that graduated four first-team All-Americans after advancing to the NCAA championship game for the third straight year. Among them were attackers Sam Apuzzo and Kenzie Kent and midfielder Dempsey Arsenault. The trio combined for 343 points last spring.
North, a Dallas native, set the Blue Devils’ single-season scoring record with 105 points (82 goals, 23 assists) this year after leading Duke with 59 goals as a freshman in 2018.
The Eagles also added Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and U.S. U19 team goalie Rachel Hall in the offseason. Hall transferred from Oregon after leading all NCAA Division I goalies with 246 saves as a freshman.
