Division III Men's Recap: Babson Avenges April Loss to Williams

Babson avenged a one-goal loss to NESCAC rival Williams from April 8, taking a lead midway through the second quarter and never relinquishing it in Friday’s 16-10 win in the NCAA Division III men’s tournament’s second round.

It was 5-5 when Otto Nicholson fed Pearse Glavin for the tying goal by Williams, and Babson responded with a four-goal run — including two goals in a span of five seconds — for a 9-5 lead that would provide plenty of cushion. Matt Stucchi scored twice in that run, with Chi Chi Price and Topher Bower chipping in the other two tallies.

Williams would never come closer than four goals, and Babson built its lead to as much as six  at 13-7 (on a goal from Jacob Tauss) and 14-8 (also on a goal from Tauss).

Tauss scored four times for Babson, which meets RIT on Sunday in the third round with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line. Price had three goals, Will Spangenberg had one goal and three assists and Stucchi had two goals and two assists. Will Parducci made 14 saves, and Grey Sunderland went 17-for-30 at the faceoff dot. Babson won the battle on the ground 41-34.
