Connor Cmiel, a senior midfielder and captain at Ohio State, will play football at Coastal Carolina this fall after finishing up his lacrosse career with the Buckeyes. Cmiel tweeted out his commitment on Sunday.

A short-stick defensive midfielder for the Buckeyes, Cmiel played in 14 games and had three goals, two assists and 22 groundballs last season. He has six goals and 10 assists over his first three years of college lacrosse.

The 6-foot-2 200-pound Cmiel was a three-sport athlete at St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, playing basketball, football and lacrosse. He played wide receiver and cornerback in football.

According to Ty Xanders, Cmiel had offers to play football at a few Mid American Conference schools as a wide receiver before choosing to play lacrosse. Coastal Carolina football plays in the Sun Belt Conference in the Football Bowl Subdivision and is coming off of an 8-5 season.
