The Big 12 Conference has added three affiliate members in women’s lacrosse and two in rowing for the 2024-25 academic year. Florida, San Diego State and UC Davis will join Arizona State, Cincinnati and Colorado in women’s lacrosse, while Old Dominion and Tulsa will join UCF, Kansas, K-State and West Virginia in rowing.
“We are excited to announce Florida, San Diego State and UC Davis as affiliate members in lacrosse plus Old Dominion and Tulsa in rowing,” Big 12 Vice President for Women’s Basketball & Competition Dayna Scherf said. “These additions support the continued growth of women’s sports across our Conference, including the league’s first lacrosse championship. We look forward to welcoming the coaches, student-athletes and fans from each of these institutions to Big 12 competition.”
Affiliate members will compete for the Conference’s postseason championship in both sports, with lacrosse members also competing in regular season competition.
Additionally, the Big 12 has announced the format for the league’s first-ever women’s lacrosse season in 2025 — teams will play a single round-robin, consisting of five games, with the top four teams advancing to the Big 12 Championship. The 2025 championship is set for May 1 & 3, hosted on-campus at Colorado’s Prentup Field.
In addition to lacrosse and rowing, the Big 12 also includes affiliate members in the sports of equestrian, gymnastics and wrestling.
