Denver Adds Division III Player of the Year Jane Earley as Transfer
Fresh off a Memorial Day Weekend appearance, Denver is loading up for 2024.
The Pioneers made a big splash in the transfer portal, adding two-time IWLCA Division III Player of the Year Jane Earley, who led Middlebury to three national championships (2019, 2022, 2023).
Earley, a 5-7 attacker from Falmouth, Mass., is Middlebury’s single-season points leader (106) and graduated second in program history in career goals (217), points (290) and draw controls (257). She produced those numbers even as the pandemic limited her to three games in 2020 and none in 2021. All told, she played 72 games for Middlebury and averaged 4.03 goals per game.
Known for its defensive prowess, the Denver offense at times lacked punch in 2023. Scoring wasn’t necessarily a necessity with a defense that limited opponents to a national-best 6.22 goals per game. But Liza Kelly is certainly looking for improvements on offense after finishing 60th in the nation at 11.91 goals per game.
In comes Earley, who will pair with Julia Gilbert, who had 59 goals as a senior in 2023, to form a dynamic 1-2 punch.
