Furman women’s lacrosse has made a last-minute head coaching change.
Kirkland aLewis, the Paladins’ head coach for the past two seasons, will not lead the team as it begins its 2024 season next month. Instead, assistant strength training and conditioning coach Lauren Farber — a Furman midfielder from 2019-22 — will be the interim head coach.
A release from Furman vice president for intercollegiate athletics Jason Donnelly said that a national search for Lewis’ full-time replacement will take place during the season.
Furman was 10-8 last season. The Paladins were 7-2 in the Big South, and 2024 represents their third season in the conference. Furman was a Big South conference tournament semifinalist for the second straight year in 2023.
Farber was a 2022 first-team All-Big South selection. She played in 50 career games with 27 starts, producing 61 points (47 goals, 14 assists). Her 73 draw controls are 10th in Furman history.
