Mashewske, Bunker, Smeader are USA Lacrosse Women's Players of the Week

This season, USA Lacrosse will celebrate the accomplishments of players across Divisions I, II and III each Tuesday with Player of the Week recognition.

Players of the Week are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors based on a variety of factors, including individual performance and impact on team success.

DIVISION I

Kate Mashewske, Syracuse

A one-woman wrecking crew on the draw, Mashewske totaled 18 draw controls in a win over Virginia, falling just one shy of matching her own single-game program record.

Mashewske is the second player in Syracuse history with over 300 draw controls. One of the few true draw specialists in the game today, Mashewske has attempted just one shot this season. Her value lies in getting the ball for her teammates to take all the shots.

DIVISION II

Megan Bunker, Regis

Bunker, a junior midfielder, had a dominant week in the draw circle for No. 9 Regis, recording a season-high 18 draws and then 16 draws in back-to-back wins over UIndy and UC-Colorado Springs, respectively. She also scored a pair of goals in each game and recorded three caused turnovers during the week. 

Bunker is currently third among all Division II players with 8.86 draw controls per game.

DIVISION III

Maura Smeader, William Smith

Smeader made 12 saves in William Smith’s 10-7 win over Salisbury, the shining performance during a 27-save, 3-0 week for Smeader and the Herons.

She also made seven saves against Union and eight against RPI.
