There are still nine undefeated teams in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Women’s Top 20, and six of them reside at the top of this week’s ranking. West Chester holds the top spot for the second straight week, with defending champion UIndy and Florida Southern close behind.

With some excellent matchups on this week’s schedule, there’s likely to be considerable movement by the time next week’s ranking is published.

On Wednesday, top-ranked West Chester gets its first big test of the year when it welcomes No. 4 Le Moyne, while No. 7 Pace concludes its Florida swing with a visit to No. 9 Tampa.

Later in the week, No. 3 Florida Southern hosts No. 14 Mercy, No. 16 Flagler meets No. 12 St. Leo and No. 2 UIndy could be riding a 25-game winning streak when it welcomes No. 5 Regis.

The fun is just getting started as March Madness takes hold.

HOT

Rollins (+2)

The Tars remained among the undefeated teams with two more home victories this week, defeating Concordia-St. Paul and No. 17 Seton Hill. Abigail Cawley led the way offensively against Seton Hill with four goals and five points as Rollins claimed its second top 20 win of the season. The Tars could continue to climb with five more home games over the next two weeks.

Florida Southern (+1)

The Mocs extended their season-opening winning streak by holding off No. 7 Pace, 14-12, to claim their third top 20 win of the season. A 6-1 second quarter run proved to be the difference for FSC, which overcame 25 turnovers by winning 18 of 30 draws.

NOT

Seton Hill (-3)

The Griffins have had a brutal schedule to start the year, with road losses against top 10 foes East Stroudsburg and Rollins, as well as No. 12 St. Leo. Picked as the preseason favorite in the PSAC West coaches poll, they get a chance to start living up to that billing as they begin league play this week.

IN

St. Anselm (No. 19)

Six goals by Alison Ferullo led the Hawks to their fifth straight win, downing Southern Conn. St., 15-8, last Saturday. St. Anselm has its second 5-0 start in three seasons, and most impressively, has achieved the feat while playing four of the first five away from home. A neutral site game and two more at home give the Hawks a chance to still be undefeated heading into an April 1 game at No. 10 Adelphi.

OUT

Mercyhurst (was No. 18)

The Lakers started well against No. 4 Le Moyne last Saturday, trailing by one goal at the end of the first quarter, but Le Moyne then tallied the next nine goals for a lopsided 18-6 win. Mercyhurst has a chance to gather a significant victory and climb back into the ranking when it visits No. 11 GVSU this week.
