Courtney Patterson, the dynamic senior midfielder who compiled 39 goals and 100 draw controls for Gettysburg last season, has been named the US Lacrosse Magazine Division III Women’s Preseason Player of the Year.
Patterson is also chiefly responsible for Gettysburg’s ranking as the No. 2 team in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Women’s Preseason Top 20.
Preseason accolades, along with Top 20 rankings, will be featured in the January edition of US Lacrosse Magazine, which drops Jan. 2.
After watching Middlebury capture the national championship last season, Patterson hopes that 2020 includes Gettysburg’s third national title in four years. With a player of her caliber in the fold (she was the IWLCA Division III Midfielder of the Year in 2019), Gettysburg is primed to compete.
"My class, we’ve had so much success and know what’s needed to do that again,” Patterson told US Lacrosse Magazine. “I’m really excited to cherish this season.”
