Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Stony Brook's Courtney Murphy broke a 30-year old record, becoming the NCAA's Division I all-time leading goal scorer. Murphy had five goals in Stony Brook's 21-3 win over Hartford giving her 292 for her career, breaking the mark of National Lacrosse Hall of Fame member Gail Cummings. Cummings scored 289 in her career at Temple from 1985-88.

That might not be the only NCAA record to fall to a Stony Brook player this season. Kylie Ohlmiller is closing in on the NCAA career points and assists records. Ohlmiller has 416 points in her career, 29 away from Jen Adams (Maryland, 1998-2001) career mark of 445. Ohlmiller also has 207 career assists, 17 away from Hannah Nielsen's (Northwestern, 2006-09) NCAA mark of 224.
2. Syracuse continued a brutal stretch of its schedule with a road game at No. 6 Loyola on Thursday, and the Orange won a thriller with a 12-11 overtime win on Emily Hawryschuk's goal 55 seconds into the first overtime. Asa Goldstock made 10 first-half saves to help Syracuse take a 5-1 lead, but Loyola came back in the second half, scoring two goals in the final 2:02 to send it to overtime. Hawryschuk finished the game with career-highs of six goals and eight points.

3. Elijah Black is a junior midfielder for the St. Viator (Ill.) boys’ lacrosse team and Nation United, a club program that fields elite teams of mostly minority players to compete in summer tournaments. Black has committed to Ohio State, where he plans to study business and finance. He shares his story in our "Faces and Voices of Black Lacrosse" series.
4. A young defense is coming together for the Duke women's lacrosse team, as evidenced by last weekend's win over Syracuse. No. 2 ranked Boston College will put the Blue Devils to the test this weekend.
5. A patient approach, ranther than a run-and-gun mentality has helped No. 13 Cornell score goals in bunches on the way to a 6-3 start under interim head coach Peter Milliman. The Big Red have topped 20 goals in each of their last three games. Sophomore Jeff Teat has 53 goals for the nation's No. 2 ranked offense.
6. An unwavering belief in herself has former Northwestern star Taylor Thornton back on the playing field as a member of the Women's Professional Lacrosse League's Baltimore Brave.
