Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Another Maryland sweep is in the books for the historic year. Matt Rambo and Zoe Stukenberg were named the 2017 Tewaaraton Award winners Thursday night in Washington, D.C. Rambo, the Terps’ all-time leading scorer, led Maryland to its first NCAA title since 1975 and is the school’s first male recipient of this highest honor. Stukenberg is Maryland’s fifth female winner and sixth straight.
2. The Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) launched yesterday and was founded by the former commissioner of the United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX), Michele DeJuliis. The league is set to launch in the summer of 2018. Devon Wills, Team USA's veteran goalie and last year’s UWLX MVP from the Long Island Sound, is the WPLL’s director of player relations.
3. In the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Top 20 rankings, the Gettysburg women end their season with a championship as No. 1 in the nation and Salisbury, the repeat men’s champion, also takes the top spot.
4. The new generation of MLL players, including Boston Cannons midfielder Max Seibald, is giving back to fans. Seibald personally answered one fan’s letter and received lots of love on Twitter for doing so.
