Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Three ranked women’s teams were in action Thursday night.
In Big Ten action, sophomore Hannah Leubecker continues to emerge as a star, scoring seven goals for the second time this season as No. 9 Maryland topped Ohio State 14-9.
Down in Kentucky, No. 1 North Carolina improved to 8-0 with a 19-7 win over No. 17 Louisville. Jamie Ortega scored a season-high seven goals on seven shots and had a hat trick in the game’s first eight minutes. The Tar Heels have won 15 straight games and haven’t allowed a team to score more than nine goals this spring.
2. High school lacrosse is back.
On Wednesday, we revealed the top 10 teams in boys’ and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions. Yesterday we revealed 25 boys’ and girls’ players players to watch as they make their triumphant returns to the field this spring.
Check both lists out below.
3. The Premier Lacrosse League Entry Draft is less than a week away.
A major influx of talent is coming into the league, and Phil Shore is back with a mock draft of how the three rounds will shake out. Lyle Thompson seems like the consensus No. 1 pick for Cannons LC, but who will follow?
