Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Best of Lacrosse (#BestOfLax), recognizing the sport’s top individuals and performances of 2017, concludes today on Twitter. On Thursday, we unveiled the four finalists for Best Women’s Breakthrough: Boston College’s Sam Apuzzo, Towson’s Olivia Conti, Navy’s Kelly Larkin and Team USA’s Michelle Tumolo. Results will be published in the December edition of US Lacrosse Magazine.
2. The November edition hit US Lacrosse members’ mailboxes Thursday. The cover story delves into the lives of the Ohio City kids who will benefit from additional opportunities through the Lacrosse Communities Project, as a new sport captures the imagination of children in one of Cleveland’s oldest and most diverse neighborhoods.
3. Brine Lacrosse appears poised to unveil a women’s version of the Warrior Lacrosse Evo Warp, a men’s stick that has grabbed the attention of lacrosse gear heads with its pre-strung, Kevlar-bonded pockets made of water-resistant polypropylene. New Balance owns both brands. Speculation about a “women’s Warp” arose after US Lacrosse simplified stick stringing specifications to allow non-traditional pockets. Brine tweeted a photo Thursday of Team USA’s Kelly Rabil with an apparent prototype.
