Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
The November edition of US Lacrosse Magazine started arriving in homes Thursday, and our cover story on Black Lacrosse Alliance leader Jules Heningburg was the talk of the lacrosse community.
In “Beacon of Hope,” staff writer Nelson Rice examines the making of an activist, including his family’s deep and rich legacy that’s intertwined with Black history and the civil rights movement. Heningburg the lacrosse player also comes into focus, as he moves past the disappointment of the COVID-19-related health effects that prevented him from competing in the PLL Championship Series.

Proud of Jules for standing up for his beliefs and his activism with @BLAlliance_ https://t.co/IJeUyoJXEZ
We commissioned PLL senior producer and editor Josh Rottman and photographer Anna Whipple for the cover shoot in San Diego, which included a stop at Fatboy Cuts barber Oscar Gonzalez’s house.
Heningburg’s influence keeps growing. He’s the host for Season 2 of “Unbuckled Chinstrap,” the PLL podcast. Heningburg inherits the microphone from PLL co-founder Paul Rabil.
