Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. USA Lacrosse announced rosters for the U.S. national teams competing in the Fall Classic next month.
The U.S. women are gearing up for the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship with mostly familiar faces, including seven members of the 2017 gold medal-winning team. Ella Simkins and Kayla Wood will make their U.S. debuts after impressive Athletes Unlimited seasons. The U.S. will play Canada and Boston College.
The U.S. men will be in action for the first time since January 2020. Just four players from the world champion 2018 team will suit up against Canada and Virginia. Tom Schreiber, however, will be one of them. He’s playing for the U.S. for the first time since scoring the game-winning goal in the last second of the gold medal game in Israel.
2. Michelle Tumolo announced her retirement from the U.S. national team Thursday.
Tumolo, 30, has been a part of the program for the last decade. She competed for the 2017 U.S. team that won the World Cup in England—scoring 12 goals and adding 17 assists — and The World Games in Poland.
Recently named the head coach at Army, Tumolo did not rule out returning to the field with Athletes Unlimited next summer.
