Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Seventy-five high school girls’ lacrosse players from 19 states participated in the Nation United Summit at USA Lacrosse.

The weekend included training and educational opportunities as well as nine games showcasing diverse, elite talent. “Everybody doesn’t have to be of color, but if you’re here, that means you promote and support what we’re doing,” Nation United girls’ director Artie West said.

The fun and emotions ran high on Tierney Field.

2. The Binghamton men’s lacrosse team participated in an Out of the Darkness community walk Saturday in memory of teammate Robert Martin on the six-month anniversary of his death.

Out of the Darkness walks are fundraisers for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Martin died by suicide April 1. The Bearcats have raised nearly $12,000.

“Rob means a lot to our team,” senior defenseman Dylan Braddock told Fox 40. “He is a guy that we all try to strive to be like. He was a guy that was first out there, first to get up to you if you score a goal, first to cheer you on. He’s a kind of a guy that we all want to resemble in the way we play and the way we are there for each other.”

3. A women’s lacrosse final four in Chicago?

Northwestern unveiled last week plans for a new Ryan Field, converting its football stadium into a year-round multi-purpose venue for concerts and other events.

“The new stadium will be an ideal venue to host other top collegiate sporting events,” the university stated on rebuildryanfield.com, “like the women’s lacrosse final four.”

As Inside Lacrosse noted in an article Friday, the stadium is projected to be finished in 2026 — the last year in the current cycle of established NCAA championship sites.

4. The Canisius and Syracuse women’s lacrosse teams commemorated Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, on Friday.

The teams wore orange “Every Child Matters” during fall ball practices and shared images on social media. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. The day calls for people to remember the victims and honor survivors of residential schools.
