Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Quinnipiac has suspended all activites for its men's lacrosse team pending an investigation into alleged violations of the student code of conduct. The story was first reported by Inside Lacrosse yesterday. Quinnipiac is coming off of a 9-6 season in which it won the MAAC regular season title.
2. The National Lacrosse League's Vancouver franchise rebranded itself with a new name - Warriors - and logo, which were revealed on Friday.
3. Two coaches who made major contributions to the sport are among the 2018 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductees this coming weekend. Phyllis Kilgour, who never played the sport, won 574 games and eight state championships at Radnor (Pa.) High School. Denise Wescott coached college lacrosse for more than 30 years, but made an ever bigger impact globally with her contributions to international lacrosse.
4. Caitlyn Wurzburger, a member of the 2019 U.S. Women's U19 Training Team, gained national attention when she verbally committed to Syracuse as an eighth grader in 2016. That was the earliest commit on record for a women's lacrosse player. Earlier this month, Wurzburger announced she was reopening the recruiting process and yesterday she announced her destination: North Carolina. Wurzburger, rated the No. 1 player in the Class of 2020 by Inside Lacrosse, will compete with the U.S. U19 team during the Team USA Fall Classic on Oct. 6-7.
