Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The World Indoor Lacrosse Championship closing ceremonies produced an all-too familiar scene Saturday — gold medals draped around the Canadians’ necks, the Iroquois donning silver and the U.S. settling for bronze.

Canada, now a five-time world champion, defeated the Iroquois 19-12 in the gold medal game Saturday at Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia. Dane Dobbie, the NLL season and championship MVP with the Calgary Roughnecks, continued his big year with a three-goal, seven-assist performance in the victory. Canada is 29-0 all-time in WILC competition. Iroquois forward Cody Jamieson was named MVP of the tournament.

In the bronze medal game, the U.S. built a big lead and withstood a late surge by England to prevail 11-8. Despite the win, there remained the tinge of disappointment for a U.S. program that has made great progress in the box game but could not break through to the top two. Transition player Joel White was Team USA’s lone representative on the All-World Team.

2. Tom Kennedy, the former lacrosse and football standout at Bryant who played lacrosse professionally for MLL’s Boston Cannons last summer, made his NFL regular-season debut Sunday with the Detroit Lions. The Lions signed Kennedy, a wide receiver, off the practice squad to their active roster Friday.
