Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Changes to the shot clock in men’s lacrosse have been approved.
Beginning in the 2021-22 academic year, the shot clock will reset to 60 seconds when the offensive team retains possession after taking a valid shot and in other specific situations in the offensive half of the field.
Learn more about the rule change here.
2. Women’s lacrosse trading cards are coming.
Athletes Unlimited announced a partnership with Topps on Wednesday, one that will result in the first line of professional women’s lacrosse trading cards in history. The limited edition line will be available online and feature all 56 athletes participating in the league’s first season.
3. Richmond has added Madison Carter as an assistant coach.
Carter, the former Penn State standout (2016-20), coached at Mercer last season. She’ll handle the attacking and draw units with the Spiders.
4. Penn State has added an impact transfer in Taylor Regan.
Regan, a fifth-year transfer coming from Virginia, scored 39 goals with 26 assists in four seasons with the Cavaliers — with 24 goals and 16 assists coming her senior season.
5. Lacrosse could be sanctioned in Kentucky.
Terry Boehmker of the NKyTribune reports that the Kentucky High School Athletic Association could vote at the Board of Control meeting on Friday to add lacrosse to the list of sanctioned sports in the state.
There are currently 37 girls’ teams and 35 boys’ teams playing as club programs in Kentucky.
