Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The U.S. women’s national team is back.

After roughly 18 months apart, the team took the field in Sparks, Md., for the first of three tryout days ahead of the 2022 Women’s World Cup in Towson, Md.

From cicadas to championship tours to more, Matt Hamilton has you covered with the Day 1 breakdown.

Also, be sure to catch a one-hour livestream from tryouts on Thursday, airing on Lax Sports Network at 6 p.m. Eastern. Go “Behind the Dream.”

2. When Adam Schefter breaks lacrosse news, it’s big.

That’s just what happened Wednesday evening, as the NFL insider reported that two-time Super Bowl champion Chris Hogan will be on Cannons LC’s active roster for Week 2.

Hogan, who made the team out of training camp, did not make the gameday roster in Week 1.

3. RIT stands atop the final Nike / USA Lacrosse Division III Men’s Top 20.

The Tigers capped a perfect season with a national championship, cementing their place on top. Tufts, which had one of the most dynamic offenses in the country, finished second. Salisbury, the national runner up, came in at No. 3.

4. Salisbury is No. 1 in the Nike / USA Lacrosse Division III Women’s Top 20.

The Sea Gulls were 20-0 and national champions during a spring season that began with a bevy of question marks around the nation. Tufts came in at No. 2, and St. John Fisher’s strong postseason pushed it to No. 3.

See the full ranking here.

5. Kelly Orr is stepping down at Cortland.

Orr, who compiled an 85-20 record since 2015 with one national championship, did not coach in 2021 while on maternity leave. She’s stepping down from the nationally acclaimed program.

More here.

6. We named our high school players of the week.

As the high school season winds down, more and more athletes are putting in big-time performances when it matters most. We celebrated their accomplishments yesterday.
