Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Charlotte North is the IWLCA Player of the Year.
Just one day after being selected first overall in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft, North earned the nod from the IWLCA. The Boston College attacker was also named the IWLCA Attacker of the Year.
Could there be more honors in the not-too-distant future for North? On Thursday night, the Tewaaraton Foundation will hand out this year’s Tewaaraton Awards, for which North is a finalist.
2. UMass midfielder Aidan Kaminska has died at 19.
Kaminska, a sophomore, scored nine goals this season and started the first game of his career on May 5 in the CAA tournament. He died at his parents’ home on Monday, per reports. No cause of death was revealed.
3. Welcome to World Lacrosse, Nigeria and Rwanda.
Both nations were announced as members of World Lacrosse on Wednesday, bringing the total global membership to 77 and membership in Africa to six.
4. Central Michigan is in the market for a new head coach.
The university announced Wednesday that Sara Tisdale will not seek a contract renewal, meaning CMU will have a new coach next season for the first time in seven years. Avery Blackmon will serve as the interim for now, but a nationwide search for Tisdale’s replacement is under way.
