Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. UMBC, which needed a minor miracle to make the America East tournament and went on to win the conference’s automatic qualifier, defeated Marist 14-8 on Wednesday in the play-in game of the NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse tournament. Goalie Tommy Lingner, who lost the starting job when the Retrievers fell to 3-8 on April 20, came on in relief of Jack Morton and made nine saves. UMBC’s reward for its first NCAA tournament win since 2007? A date in Happy Valley with top-seeded Penn State on Sunday.
2. The second round of the NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse tournament delivered some incredible moments Wednesday.

Springfield, fueled this season by the memory of coach Keith Bugbee’s late daughter, dug itself out of a 6-0 hole and defeated host Ursinus 16-15 in overtime. Cam Glover scored the game-winning goal, his third of the game.
