Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Virginia Tech women’s lacrosse took this summer to continue to grow.
The Hokies, led by coach John Sung, created Movement Mondays, an initiative aimed at giving athletes the voice to talk about important issues and enact change. Still growing from an incident involving the use of the n-word on the team bus in 2018, Sung shares his team’s story of progress.
Check out the blog from IWLCA’s “Behind the Whistle.”
2. The SheCompetes webinar series returned with "Developing Women in Leadership."
The second episode of the series featured women in the sports industry, including Karissa Neihoff (NFHS), Jenny Levy (Head Coach, U.S. National Lacrosse Team), Marci Robles (George Washington University Rowing), Kristen Wright (USA Hockey) and Kristen Carr (U.S. Women’s National Team).
The panel spoke about the importance of having female role models in athletics and the power of learning from experiences. Check out the recap here.
3. The Premier Lacrosse League won Sports Business Journal’s Sports Breakthrough of the Year award.
The league, which has commanded the attention of the lacrosse community on social media, wrapped up its second season in August — a bubbled Championship Series.
