Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. NCAA Men's Lacrosse approved an 80-second shot clock beginning with the 2019 season. The 80-second clock came about after feedback from coaches on an initial proposal to have a 20 second clearing clock followed by a 60-second shot clock.
2. The MCLA followed suit and said it will use the new clock for its 2019 championship, but it will not be mandatory for regular season play until 2020 to allow schools more time to implement the change.
3. A powerful story on lacrosse official Gordon Corsetti appears in the September/October issue of US Lacrosse Magazine. The story relates to the subject of mental illness and Corsetti's specific experiences with attempted suicide — as well as the roles the sport and various people within it have played in his recovery.
“The people I’ve met through the sport have been the ones who have supported me at my worst....They provide safe harbor when I’m caught in a storm.”
