Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. There will never be another Paul Rabil.
After his retirement press conference on Tuesday, Rabil’s former teammates and coaches reflected on a career unlike any other in lacrosse history. Rabil was once a young and curious Johns Hopkins recruit in the early 2000s, and now he leaves his playing career as the most influential player in recent memory, if not all time.
Matt DaSilva with more on Rabil’s career, and the motivation behind retiring after a strong 2021 season.
2. Justin Guterding is back in a championship game.
Guterding, the former Duke star who lost to Yale in the NCAA final in 2018, joined Whipsnakes late in the season after a trade from Chrome LC. With just a few weeks time to get acclimated to his new team, Guterding hopes to end his title game drought.
3. Chaos LC is thinking outside the box.
With a number of NLL players, including Buffalo Bandits teammates Dhane Smith and Josh Byrne, Chaos LC has developed a chemistry unlike any in the PLL. In addition, Andy Towers' team boasts one of the league's top players in goalie Blaze Riorden, who uses his wealth of experience to lead the defense.
