Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Monday night madness.
Cornell trailed by six at one point in the first half and was playing Syracuse on the road in the Carrier Dome on just two days rest. The odds weren’t in the Big Red’s favor.
But Michael Long scored the tying goal with 24 seconds left in regulation, and Hugh Kelleher scored the winner in overtime to lift Cornell to a 16-15 win.
John Piatelli had six goals and three assists for Cornell (10-1), and Billy Coyle had three goals and two assists.
2. Another rankings Monday is behind us.
The top three remains the same in every division but Division III men, in which RIT leapfrogged Union after a win over the weekend. Otherwise, for the most part, all’s quiet in rankings world — for now.
Check out our rankings hub here.
3. Harford CC is No. 1 in the NJCAA Men’s Top 10 for the first time ever.
Harford received all six first-place votes, and Howard CC comes in at No. 2.
4. Anne Arundel CC is the new No. 1 in the NJCAA Women’s Top 5.
Anne Arundel earned all six first-place votes to take the top spot away from Harford CC.
