Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Major League Lacrosse mistakenly exposed players’ personal information last week when a link to a spreadsheet containing their social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers and other sensitive data was briefly made public on the league’s website. MLL notified the players Monday, saying the cause of the incident remains under investigation.

2. Johns Hopkins and Under Armour, two proud Baltimore institutions, have united. The university announced Monday a partnership with the global performance brand. Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, which began July 1, Under Armour will provide uniforms, training footwear, apparel and equipment for all of Johns Hopkins’ 24 varsity athletics teams — including men’s and women’s lacrosse. The Blue Jays join state rivals Loyola, Maryland, Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, Towson and UMBC with lacrosse teams outfitted by Under Armour.

3. John Vassallo, a senior coordinating producer for ESPN, acknowledged the challenges facing lacrosse as a TV sport in the latest “Myth Busters” installment from our September/October edition.

4. “The Fred Opie Show” featured Lauren Taylor, one of the most decorated players in Yale women’s lacrosse history. Taylor talked about the recruiting process and the definition of a great coach in the weekly podcast.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• Sixty-eight MLL players — including Offensive Player of the Year Eric Law (Denver), Defensive Player of the Year Tucker Durkin (Florida) and three-time all-star Will Manny (New York) — are eligible to file for player movement. It’s MLL’s version of free agency, allowing players with five straight seasons in MLL and an expiring contract to declare their intent to seek opportunities with other teams that can sign them while forfeiting compensatory draft picks. Players have until Sept. 22 to file with the league.

• Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott tells Inside Lacrosse he is “very bullish on the sport of lacrosse.”

• The Denver women’s lacrosse team added Vermont transfer Molly Little, a midfielder who started 10 games for the Catamounts last year.

• Former Mercer lacrosse player Josh Williamson has qualified for the U.S. men’s bobsled national team camp thanks to a reality TV show. He was one of eight athletes announced at the end of “Scouting Camp: The Next Olympic Hopeful,” an NBC Sports Network production that aired Friday.

• Lisa Freeman, acting president of Northern Illinois University and the school’s first female president in its 122 years of existence, spent her high school years on Long Island as a manager for the men’s lacrosse team.

• Dara Khosrowshahi, the CEO of Expedia who will be offered the job as Uber’s new CEO, played lacrosse in high school.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

New York Lizards attackman and stick wizard Matt Gibson might just be the most interesting man in lacrosse. Yes, he lives in a van. No, it is not down by the river.

Warrior Sports founder, president and CEO Dave Morrow believes eradicating the inefficiency of stringing with the Warp line of stick heads will help grow the game.

After nearly knocking off eventual NCAA champion Maryland in the quarterfinals, and with 10 starters returning, Stony Brook is a sleeper no longer. Coach Joe Spallina says the 2018 season started as soon as the Seawolves stepped off the field in College Park.

• The Peterborough Lakers go for a sweep in Game 4 of the Major Series Lacrosse final to determine Ontario’s Senior A box lacrosse champion. The Lakers own a 3-0 series lead over the Six Nations Chiefs, the exact same scenario that played out last year before the Chiefs rallied to win four straight games and advance to the Mann Cup. Faceoff is at 8 p.m. ET at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. The New Westminster Salmonbellies already have clinched a Mann Cup berth by winning their first Western Lacrosse Association title since 2010. They eliminated the Victoria Shamrocks in five games.
