Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. In late-breaking news, Bill Wagner of the Capital Gazette confirmed MLL's decision to become a single-entity league and forego the franchise model on which it was founded. Learn more here.
2. In typical Premier Lacrosse League fashion, the league made waves on social media last night when it released its list of protected players ahead of the expansion draft on Feb. 12. The league had initially said this information would be made public on Wednesday. The list of unprotected players was surprising, to say the least. Check out the full breakdown here.
3. We continued rolling out extensive previews of our top 20 teams, and No. 15 for both the men and women was the Loyola Greyhounds. Check out the men’s preview here and the women’s preview here.
4. In Jack Goods’ latest NLL notebook, he broke down the early success of Halifax and highlighted Philadelphia’s big night. Did you see Kevin Crowley’s unreal goal? It’s here, if you missed it.
5. Pittsburgh checked in at No. 1 in the Nike/US Lacrosse WCLA Division I Preseason Top 20.
6. Pittsburgh’s star defender, Julia Lynch, earned US Lacrosse WCLA Division I Preseason Player of the Year honors.
