Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Team-by-team previews of the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Preseason Top 20 continued yesterday.
The No. 13 Virginia Tech women will try to validate their historic 2018 season by returning to the NCAA tournament. The Hokies qualified for the big dance for the first time and won their first NCAA tournament game, 13-11 over Georgetown. Third-year coach John Sung welcomes his second full recruiting class as he hopes to keep Virginia Tech among the ACC powers.
2. From the January issue of US Lacrosse Magazine, Loyola senior and Warrior/US Lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year Pat Spencer has some legitimate hoop dreams.
3. The Team USA Spring Premiere hits Stanford Friday-Sunday and will feature the U.S. women’s senior and U19 teams. Get to know U19 training team player and Vanderbilt freshman Brianne Gross.
4. This week’s NLL notebook features the surprising starts of the New England Black Wolves in the east and expansion San Diego Seals out west.
And here’s a nugget about a possible league expansion franchise. NLL commissioner Nick Sakiewicz has discussed expansion overall in recent interviews with the press.
As discovered by the sleuths on the IL Forums, the #NLL has filed trademarks for “Halifax Thunderbirds” and these two logos. pic.twitter.com/xMwtTDMyKp
