Good morning. Here's the latest from the lacrosse world:

1. IWLCA honored the top assistant coaches of 2022 on Monday.

Phil Barnes (University of North Carolina), Rachel Ward (East Stroudsburg University) and Amy Patton (Middlebury) have been named the 2022 IWLCA Assistant Coaches Coaches, the organization announced Monday. Barnes and Patton helped their teams win NCAA Divisions I and III NCAA titles, respectively, while Ward was an integral part of an East Stroudsburg team that advanced to the Division II championship game.

The trio will be recognized for their impacts at the IWLCA Convention on Nov. 16.

2. Brooklyn Walker-Welch’s five keys to a great slide.

Brooklyn Walker-Welch’s 2022 has included a national title, a silver medal at the world championship and gold in Sixes. The UNC defender who stepped to Charlotte North in the waning seconds of the Tar Heels’ regular-season meeting with Boston College showed that 1v1 defense was still a team game. In the November issue, she shared her five tips for sliding. It’s available online now, too.

3. Paul Gait continues to recover after fall.

National Lacrosse Hall of Fame member and current president of Gait Lacrosse Paul Gait is in good spirits and “feeling the love” as he recovers from a fall on November 3, according to a new report on Syracuse.com. Gait suffered a head laceration and broken ribs while winterizing his home outside of Albany on Nov. 3 and needed surgery for a back injury. His brother, current Syracuse men’s coach Gary Gait, visited his brother and doesn’t expect lasting effects from the head injury.

• The Air Force men’s team has named its captains, the program announced yesterday.

• The Las Vegas Desert Dogs wrapped their first-ever training weekend. They’ll play their first preseason game on Nov. 11, and the team’s inaugural season begins on Dec. 9 against Panther City in Texas.

• Kasey Choma is producing an All-American career at Notre Dame is competed with Team USA in Sixes. But she hasn’t forgotten where she came from, reports Brian Hammon of geaterlongisland.com.
