Good morning, and Happy Halloween. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The Lacrosse Communities Project is one of the coolest things US Lacrosse has ever been a part of bringing to the sport. Our November cover story focuses on our efforts in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland, where we’ve helped install a new mini-field and provided additional resources to help the sport take root.
2. Notre Dame's Ryder Garnsey considered leaving the program, but made a decision to come back. That, coupled with a strong recruiting class, will lead to a deep Irish roster in 2018.
3. Canada’s national team players have formed the National Lacrosse Teams Players’ Association to have a voice in Canadian Lacrosse Association decisions, and to assist the country's national governing body in its efforts to grow the sport.
4. Team USA faceoff athlete Greg Gurenlian, a proud alum of Penn State, lost a bet with Ohio State (and gold-medal winning 2016 U.S. U19 team) coach Nick Myers on the two schools’ football game last weekend. Gurenlian wore scarlet and gave a half-hearted O-H-I-O chant, but we were most happy to see him looking good wearing his Team USA hat.
