Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. They’re in. The Iroquois Nationals are going to The World Games 2022.

The news dropped Monday afternoon that World Lacrosse extended an invitation to the Iroquois Nationals to compete, which was accepted. The Iroquois Nationals enters the eight-team men’s field for The World Games in Birmingham, Ala.

After the news dropped, the reaction was swift.

The statement made in conjunction with the IWGA, The World Games and World Lacrosse also reiterated that results of the 2021 Women’s World Championship will determine the women’s field for the World Games.

The inclusion of the Iroquois Nationals comes weeks after the team was initially excluded from the tournament field. World Lacrosse connected with the IWGA to find a potential pathway to inclusion, and with Ireland voluntarily withdrawing from The World Games, the spot was open for the Iroquois.

“This is a very good day, and outcome, for the sport of lacrosse,” World Lacrosse President Sue Redfern said. “We have arrived at an outcome that will create a true showcase for lacrosse at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham. This was achieved by our organizations coming together, listening carefully and working constructively to reach a shared goal.”
