1. Dakotah Savitcheff scored two goals in the final 18.2 seconds to help Albany tie and eventually upset No. 8 Cornell 11-10 in women's Division I action on Tuesday night. Savitcheff finished with seven points in Albany's first win over a Top 10 team.
It was a back-and-forth battle early, with neither team holding more than a two-goal lead. Kenzie Neal scored all four of her goals for Albany in the first half, including the final three to give her team a 7-6 lead going into the break.
Sarah Phillips gave Cornell the 9-8 lead with 3:12 left. The Big Red won the ensuing draw control, but were forced into a shot clock violation. Albany took over and Savitcheff scored with 18.2 seconds left. Neal won the draw control and Savitcheff scored the game-winner eight seconds later.
It wasn't the only game with NCAA implications on the women's side:

2. Lehigh took down Princeton at home for the second time in three years. The Mountain Hawks used balanced scoring to run away with the 15-10 victory — one that's a huge blow to the Tigers' chances at playing in the NCAA tournament.
Lehigh took the momentum from the start and used it to take a commnading 9-1 lead at hafltime. Tristan Rai had a hat trick in the first half which helped the Mountain Hawks build an insurmountable lead. Princeton scored seven of eight goals early in the second half to cut the lead to 11-8, but it could not pull any closer.
Gavin McBride had three goals and an assist in the loss. Zach Currier went 13-for-19 on faceoffs for Princeton.
In other men's action on a wild Tuesday:
-
Syracuse overcame an early deficit to back up its top ranking with a 15-8 win over Cornell in the Carrier Dome. At 10-1, the Orange match their best start since the undefeated season in 1990. Ben Williams went 19-for-25 at the faceoff x.
-
What a game in South Bend. Sergio Perkovic had a career-high six goals, including the game-winner with 25 seconds remaining, to help the Irish fend off Marquette 11-10. Notre Dame led 8-2 before Marquette responded with a run to tie the game at 10-10 before Perkovic's winner.
-
Joe French and Michael Kraus had hat tricks to lead No. 17 Virginia to a 13-7 win over Robert Morris.
-
No. 11 Pace overcame a three-goal deficit to pull a major 10-6 upset of No. 3 Adelphi. (MD2)
3. Albany's Connor Fields is filling a role of the Great Danes' next highlight-reel player. Leading the nation in scoring, Fields is amazing his teammates with every showstopping play that he makes.
Albany defensemen hate having to fend Fields off in practice, but marvel at the creativity that he shows on the field. From lighting it up at Bishop St. Timon, north of Buffalo, to working as an understudy to Lyle Thompson, Fields has been groomed to become the player he is today.

4. Week 2 of Bracketology gives us another glimpse at the projected field for May. One notable absence is Virginia, which without an ACC tournament appearance, will not be playing in May. North Carolina is still fighting to get into the tournament field, as well.
Syracuse grabs the top seed for another week, while Denver hosts a game as the No. 2 overall seed. Will the Big Ten reign supreme come May? The RPI certainly makes it seem that way.
5. Chaminade (N.Y.) and Haverford (Pa.) had great weeks to rise in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Boys Top 25. Chaminade, now No. 5, swept St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) and Ward Melville (N.Y.) last week to give it bragging rights on Long Island. No. 11 Haverford beat both Boys’ Latin (Md.) and Malvern Prep (Pa.) to move up.
For the women’s Top 25, the trio of McDonogh (Md.), Garden City (N.J.) and St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) stayed on top, while Ridgewood (N.J.) moved to No. 11 and Northport (N.Y.) made its debut.
Here are your players of the week on the boys and girls sides.
