3. Hampton announced Tuesday that Rashad Devoe will succeed Lloyd Carter as the Pirates’ head coach. Devoe, formerly the coach at the Naval Academy Prep School (NAPS) and Division III Beloit, called Hampton “the perfect landscape to build a lacrosse program that can compete on a national level.”
Devoe’s other coaching stops include Colby and Southwestern. He is a former contributor to US Lacrosse Magazine and speaker at the US Lacrosse Convention.
Hampton, which finished 6-5 in the spring but played just three Division I opponents, is the only historically black college that fields an NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse program.
