Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The Premier Lacrosse League is coming to a city near you.
The touring league announced its first six stops of the summer season, which starts June 4-5 at Albany’s Tom and Mary Casey Stadium. In its second weekend, the PLL will head to Charlotte, N.C. — the former home of the MLL’s Charlotte Hounds — for the first time.
See each of the first six stops here.
2. Griffin McGinley is the USA Lacrosse Division I Men’s Player of the Week.
The sophomore was sturdy and reliable in Mount St. Mary’s 11-9 upset win over Navy in Annapolis, making 21 saves and saving 70 percent of the shots he faced.
He faced Navy in his first career start last spring and made just eight saves in an 8-5 loss. Talk about a turnaround.
3. Remembering legendary sports columnist Bill Tanton, who died Sunday at 90.
Tanton spent 40 years covering all sports for the Baltimore Evening Sun and then served for 21 years at USA Lacrosse before retiring in March 2017.
More on his life and legacy here.
4. Kennesaw State women’s lacrosse teamed with USA Lacrosse to hold an Adaptive Lacrosse Clinic on Sunday at Acworth Sports Complex.
The clinic was run by KSU coaches and players along with USA Lacrosse’s Lou Corsetti. Over 40 athletes attended, ranging in age from 6-35.
