Good morning. Here's the latest from the lacrosse world:

1. Canada tops the U.S. men for Sixes gold.

U.S. players are leaving Birmingham, Ala., as silver medalists after falling to Canada 23-9 in the gold medal men’s Sixes match of The World Games on Tuesday night. The Canadians scored 117 goals over the course of the five-game event and won gold.

Fan favorite Japan beat England in an overtime thriller to take bronze.

2. Dominant effort propels U.S. women to rout in The World Games Sixes debut.

Former U19 standouts Kasey Choma, Belle Smith and Caitlyn Wurzburger each netted hat tricks as the U.S. women routed Australia 16-6 to open play in The World Games. Madison Ahern led the game with five points and three helpers. USA plays Japan today at 11:45 a.m. Central in another qualifying-round game. Live streaming is available.

3. Chad Surman steps down at Mercer.

Mercer is on the hunt for a new head coach. Chad Surman is stepping down, according to a press release from the athletic department. Surman spent seven years on the Bears’ sideline, including two as head coach. He had previously been the associate head coach. Mercer went 5-10 in 2022 with a 2-3 mark in SoCon play.

The athletic department says it is conducting a nationwide search for his replacement.
