Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1.  As Northeastern and Midwestern states wrap up their high school playoffs, there's been some changes in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Girls' Top 25 and regional rankings, particularly the latter. New York's four classifications were won in convincing fashion by Garden City (Class B) and Mount Sinai (Class C) and in dramatic fashion by Pittsford (Class A) and Skaneateles (Class D). Connecticut also is done.

2. Some shuffling of positions in the Nike/US Lacrosse High School Boys' Top 25 and regional rankings, thanks in large part to Ward Melville's improbable 10-9 overtime win over Pittsford in the New York Class A final. The Patriots trailed 9-4 with 4:26 left in the fourth quarter before rallying in furious fashion. Darien (Conn.) and Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.) concluded repeat state championship seasons. Massachusetts will see Lincoln-Sudbury go for its third consecutive Division I title today against Acton Boxborough.

3. The Epoch/US Lacrosse High School Players of the Week have been announced for boys and girls.

4. We continued way-early 2018 preseason college rankings with a look at the NCAA Division III women, which featured a nip-and-tuck final between champion Gettysburg and TCNJ this season and very well might again in 2018.

5. Georgetown's second-leading scorer this season will do this thing at Duke next season. Inside Lacrosse reports that Peter Conley, who netted 27 goals alongside 18 assists, will play for the Blue Devils after having been accepted into graduate school in Durham. IL reported news regarding players at North Carolina as well.

6. The Federation of International Lacrosse has announced Qatar as its 58th member.

What We’re Reading

• Mahopac (N.Y.) News has a good story on the high school lacrosse team getting involved in a fundraiser to help a local mother defray expenses associated with her fight against cancer.

• Longtime Cherry Creek (Colo.) boys' lacrosse coach Bryan Perry has retired on top, announcing his decision to step down after helping his alma mater win its fifth state championship. He's enjoyed a successful 20-plus year coaching career.

• Possibly a repost, but Yorktown (N.Y.) has disputed an anonymous claim that members of its boys' lacrosse team harrassed members of the Somers (N.Y.) girls' team in late May while the Somers players were occupying the Yorktown boys' locker room in preparation for a game.

• Kudos to The Buffalo News for expanding its annual Borrelli Awards program in Western New York. The awards honor the memory of the late Buffalo News writer Tom Borrelli, who was passionate about the sport and was a regular contributor to then-Lacrosse Magazine and LaxMagazine.com. He was the first media member to inducted into the National Lacrosse League Hall of Fame. Our friend passed away in November 2008 following a tragic fall in a stadium press box while covering a high school football game.
