Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Israel names its 30-player roster for the 2018 FIL World Championship from July 12-21 in Netanya, Israel.

It is composed of both Israeli players, as well as members of the Jewish diaspora. Several U.S. collegiate players made the roster. Among the standouts are Cornell's 2009 Tewaaraton winner and Boston Cannons midfielder Max Seibald, Denver Outlaws midfielder Noah Molnar (Lehigh) and Towson midfielder Jean-Luc Chetner.

“The group we have decided to move forward with embodies everything we had asked to see and offers us versatility in a number of areas when building a team aiming for a medal,” general manager Brad MacArthur said.

2. The Uganda lacrosse movement continues. The Uganda Lacrosse Foundation, managed by Matt Holman, named its coaching staff for the 2018 FIL World Championship on Tuesday.

Claremont College’s Pete Ginnegar will be the head coach. Former Virginia All-American attackman John Christmas, former Nazareth All-American long pole Francis Donald and UC Santa Barbara two-time MCLA championship-winning coach Mike Allan will be assistant coaches. Ivan Cohen will be the goalie coach.

“Uganda will have some of the best teachers that our game has to offer,” Holman said.

3. The Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) released a statement noting reports regarding its revoked status as a charitable organization due its involvement in an investment program “do not fairly represent the association’s entire situation.”

The Peterborough Examiner reported the Canadian Revenue Association in 2010 deemed the $60.7 million gifting program to be an illegal tax shelter. CLA officials say they are awaiting the outcome of pending litigation on the program before reapplying for charitable status with the CRA.

4. Laura McCarthy, a devoted lacrosse official, is remembered by the New Jersey North Chapter of US Lacrosse. She died Nov. 14 from cancer. She was 58.

“She ran an amazing youth officials program,” said Andi O’Connor, senior manager for the Eastern Mid-Atlantic Region at US Lacrosse. “She worked tirelessly to recruit and train officials.”

5. The US Lacrosse Convention sparked Gabriel Fowler’s interest in the sport. He took the lessons he learned back to Los Angeles, where he founded the Loma Alta Park girls’ lacrosse program with the help of the Kids’ in Sports Foundation.

“It was good seeing how the game was pretty big on the East Coast,” Fowler said. “It was inspiring and motivating to get it going over here, especially my area where there was not much lacrosse activity.”

6. The HEADstrong Foundation has set a new all-time record for money raised through Lax Stache Madness. This year’s effort has totaled more than $205,000 and a new goal of $227,000 has been set. Donate at laxstachemadness.com.

What We’re Watching

Ten-year-old, wheelchair-bound Brian Rehm of Stanardsville, Va., signed his letter of intent to Virginia with senior defenseman Scott Hooper and coach Lars Tiffany by his side.

Rehm joined the Cavaliers through Team IMPACT, a nonprofit organization that connects children with chronic illnesses with college athletic teams.

"You're one of us now," Tiffany told Rehm as Hooper presented him with his own Virginia lacrosse jersey.
