Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Mercer has promoted Chad Surman, removing the interim tag.
Surman was named the Bears’ interim men’s lacrosse coach on Aug. 6, but athletic director Jim Cole promoted him to full-time status on Tuesday. Surman just completed his fifth season on the Mercer staff after arriving in Macon, Ga., in September 2015.
Kyle Hannan resigned after eight seasons at the helm of the Bears on Aug. 6, the day Surman was named the interim coach.

2. Jules Heningburg is the cover star of our November 2020 issue.
The issue hits homes later this week, and we’ll share the cover story by staff writer on Nelson Rice at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday. Rice chronicles the Heningburg family’s history of activism and why Jules Heningburg was made for this movement.

On August 10, Garino announced on his Instagram that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. On Tuesday, he said he completed his last day of treatment.
4. National Lacrosse Hall of Famer Dick Watts has died at 92.
Watts coached UMBC to its lone national championship in any team sport in 1980. That title, a Division II championship, was the high point of his 23-year coaching career in which he amassed 178 wins. He was also a two-time All-American defenseman at Johns Hopkins.
