With a record performance, junior goalie Haley Hicklen led Florida to a 17-10 upset of then-No. 3 North Carolina, which dethroned reigning national champion Maryland just one week prior.
Hicklen earns this week’s Brine/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors after setting a Florida single-game record with 16 saves. Facing 39 shot attempts, she recorded a .615 save percentage and limited the Tar Heels to a season-low 10 goals.
“Haley was phenomenal in the cage today,” coach Amanda O’Leary said following the victory.

In each of her five games this season, Hicklen has posted at least 10 saves and now sits just 10 saves shy of second place all-time at Florida.
The win bumped the Gators up three spots to No. 4 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Top 20.
