Fred Opie is an author and former Syracuse University and U.S. National Lacrosse team player growing integrity, effort, and care on and off the field.
Chris Bates is one of six people who the newly formed Premier Lacrosse League has named as a head coach. Bates unpacks his lacrosse journey from John Jay high school in New York's Hudson Valley, to Dartmouth College, the Philadelphia Wings of Major Indoor Lacrosse (a team which included Hall of Famer's Paul and Gary Gait, Tom Marecheck, and Billy Miller), Drexel University, and being named head coach at Princeton University.
Bates talks about what he learned after his resignation from Princeton in the context of failing forward and self-care for coaches. In addition to coaching in the new pro league, he coaches at Episcopal Academy in Pennsylvania.
