Garrett Bakhsh, a freshman on the Coker men’s lacrosse team, died Tuesday night after a nightclub shooting Monday morning, according to the Hartsville (S.C.) Police Department. He was among four injured and three killed.
Bakhsh, 18, was a criminal justice major from Hampstead, Md. He attended Hereford High School and was a state finalist in 2017-18. The attackman was scheduled to take the field with his Coker teammates on Sunday in the first game of the season.

The Coker men’s basketball team plays Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. and announced it will hold a “blue out” in Bakhsh’s honor.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our student, Garrett Bakhsh,” the University said in a statement. “Garrett was a freshman, a member of our men’s lacrosse team, and a friend to many in our Coker community. The entire campus community joins together in expressing our sympathy to Garrett’s family and our hearts go out to all impacted by this sad news.”
